Abstract
The terms, growth, development and progress are used as synonyms-to-re present the changes in the pattern of the social systems. By visualisi ng a sigmoidal model, growth, development and progress seem to be the sequencial events in the change. The interpretation leads to speculate that the rate of growth can be checked only by the onset of progress, which sets in with maturity and depends on the control of desire rath er than the satisfaction.
