Abstract
An alternative way of diagonalizing the Jaynes-Cummings Hamiltonian is proposed and allows the definition of annihilation operators and cohe rent states for this model. Mean values and dispersions over these sta tes are computed and interpreted. Limiting cases which are physically interesting are also examined.
