M. Khalil et al., PHARMACOKINETICS AND PHARMACODYNAMICS OF ROCURONIUM IN PATIENTS WITH CIRRHOSIS (REPRINTED FROM ANESTHESIOLOGY, VOL 80, 1994), European journal of anaesthesiology, 1994, pp. 85-86
The pharmacokinetics of rocuronium in 1 0 patients with proven cirrhos
is were compared with those in eight normal patients. Patients with ci
rrhosis had an increased volume of the central compartment and this wa
s associated with a lower maximum block in several patients with a slo
wer onset and longer recovery index. Other pharmacokinetic parameters
did not differ significantly between the groups, suggesting that hepat
ic elimination is not a significant factor in the removal of rocuroniu
m.
