Abstract
It has been recently demonstrated that sulfur crosslinks can be charac terized by X-ray near edge absorption spectroscopy (XANES). Using this new tool in crosslink analysis, this article tries to take a closer l ook at the mechanism of accelerated sulfur vulcanization of rubber thi n cuts. It is shown that XANES provides a method for in situ measureme nts. Especially the temporal development of polysulfides in the rubber under investigation is clearly visible.
