Vk. Singh et Bb. Dhar, STABILITY ANALYSIS OF OPEN-PIT COPPER MINE BY USE OF NUMERICAL MODELING METHODS, Transactions - Institution of Mining and Metallurgy. Section A. Mining industry, 103, 1994, pp. 10000067-10000074
The stability of the slopes of an open-pit copper mine was analysed in
two dimensions with the use of a finite-difference code. The properti
es of the rock material were determined in the laboratory and subseque
ntly modified to approximate those of the in-situ rock mass of the ope
n-pit slopes. Geotechnical mapping was undertaken to determine the cri
tical orientation of structural discontinuities. The results of the nu
merical modelling work indicated that an open-pit 148 m in depth would
be stable with overall slope angles of 60-degrees.
