Abstract
Sampling of plutonium in urine was first recorded on the Sellafield (n ee Windscale) site in April 1951. The sampling and analytical methods employed since that time have undergone many changes. The impact of th ese changes on the quality of urinary excretion data is discussed and the significance of key improvements is assessed using the Sellafield urine sample database which holds over 500,000 analysis results.
