HEAVY-METALS IN THE GORO BAY - SEA-WATER, SEDIMENTS AND MUSSELS

Analytical results are reported for the determination of metals in sea water, sediments and mussels in the Goro Bay located in proximity of the mouth of the Po River in the Province of Ferrara (Italy). The elem ents determined are mercury, lead, cadmium, copper, zinc, chromium, ni ckel, cobalt, iron, manganese and aluminium. The sampling methods and analytical procedure employed are likewise decribed, quoting, for all analytical determinations either accuracy or precision. The accuracy, expressed as percentage recovery, showed a relative analytical error ( e%) of the order of +/- 5-10%, while precision, expressed as relative standard deviation (s(r)%) was of the order of +/- 2-5%.
