Abstract
In addition to the introductory demonstrations of genetic immunization , the past year has brought significant advances in vaccine developmen t. Particularly encouraging are live recombinant vaccines, studies dem onstrating the potential to elicit both systemic and mucosal immune re sponses, more studies demonstrating immune protection in animal diseas e models, and experimental vaccines eliciting immune responses in prim ates.
