Abstract
The relationship of corrosion in a rotating disk system to that in a t urbulent pipe flow system was examined. Closed-form, mathematical mode ls that allowed prediction of the uniform corrosion rate in turbulent pipe flow based on rotating disk experiments were developed. A model f or prediction of product film formation in turbulent pipe flow given t he conditions under which a product film forms during disk flow also w as developed. Practicality of the resultant models was demonstrated by comparing the model predictions to literature data. Model predictions were in good agreement with experimental results of other researchers .
