I. Usbeck et al., EFFECT OF EARLY CLENBUTEROL-ADMINISTRATIO N ON THE COURSE OF PARTURITION IN SOWS AND ON PERIPARTAL PIGLET LOSSES, Praktische Tierarzt, 75(8), 1994, pp. 667
The intramuscular (dose: 90 and 150 mug/sow) as well as the oral appli
cation (dose: 240 mug/sow) of clenbuterol at the beginning of the open
ing phase of parturition induced in young (for the 1st time farrowing)
and in older sows a - partly significant - prolongation of this phase
. There was a tendency towards shorting of the expulsion phase. The pe
ripartal losses of piglets after the application of clenbuterol were l
ower: puerperal diseases were less frequent.
