Abstract
The kinetics of oxidation of L-methionine by poly(pyridyl) iron (III) complexes in aqueous media have been investigated. The reactions are f irst order each in the oxidant, reductant and hydrogen ion. The immedi ate products are the respective poly(pyridyl) iron (II) complexes and methionine sulphoxide. Each reaction is discussed in terms of the oute r-sphere mechanism.
