Large scale Monte Carlo simulations are used to study the scaling prop
erties of a new spin model of microemulsions near a critical temperatu
re. The critical exponent beta of the order parameter (water concentra
tion) and the correlation-length exponent nu are in excellent agreemen
t with those of the 3D Ising model and are also in complete agreement
with the experimental measurements. However, nu and beta for the same
model but in a porous medium, modeled by a percolation system, do not
agree with those of either the dilute or the random-field Ising model.
