1,4-Diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) can be intercalated in HSb(PO4)2
.2.3H2O (noted H1) to give materials having the final formulation HSb(
PO4)2(DABCO)0.2.2H2O noted H1DABCO0.2, HSb(PO4)2(DABCO)0.5.1.5H2O note
d H1DABCO0.5 and HSb(PO4)2(DABCO)0.8.3.5H2O noted H1DABCO0.8. These co
mpounds are characterized by X-ray diffraction, I.R. spectroscopy, MAS
NMR spectroscopy and TGA measurements, giving evidence of a monolayer
of intercalated amine in the second compound while a double layer is
probably obtained in the latter compound. DABCO intercalates show a po
or activity in the condensation reaction between aromatic aldehydes an
d acrylic esters compared with the high conversion rate usually observ
ed with pure DABCO in homogeneous medium.
