(H-Alanine)2(PdCl4) is triclinic (space group P-1, Z = 1) with a = 6.4
627(9)angstrom, b = 7.420(1)angstrom, c = 8.891(1)angstrom, alpha = 77
.821(7), beta = 84.542(6) and gamma = 67.34(1)-degrees. The structure
was refined from single crystal data using 2788 independent X-ray refl
ections to R1 = 0.0456, wR2 = 0.1192. The crystal structure of (H-Alan
ine)2(PdCl4) is built up by isolated PdCl4 square plane and two (CH3)(
NH3+)CH-COOH groups and is described in term of a network of cationic
ClH3Pd tetrahedra. Solid H-1 NMR study confirms the existence of the a
laninium cation.
