E. Collantesestevez et al., INFLUENCE OF REGULAR ALCOHOL-CONSUMPTION ON URICACIDEMIA IN UNSELECTED HEALTHY-INDIVIDUALS, Alcohol and alcoholism, 29(4), 1994, pp. 411-413
We analysed serum uric acid concentrations in a group of healthy male
and female volunteers in Cordoba (Spain) possessing varying nutritiona
l habits, in order to correlate them with their usual alcohol intake a
s measured according to a protocolized, blind dietary questionnaire. T
here was no significant correlation between the serum uric acid and th
e amount-of alcohol regularly drunk by either male or female individua
ls. These results suggest that a moderate alcohol intake has no effect
on uricaemia in healthy individuals.
