N. Hortacsu, PARENTS EDUCATION LEVEL, POPULARITY, INDIVIDUAL COGNITIONS, AND ACADEMIC-PERFORMANCE - AN INVESTIGATION WITH TURKISH CHILDREN, The Journal of genetic psychology, 155(2), 1994, pp. 179-189
Data obtained by a questionnaire were analyzed to explore relationship
s between variables related to Turkish childrens academic performance.
The results indicated that parents' education level, sociometric meas
ures of insecure attachment, and social efficacy were significant pred
ictors of grade point average. Parents' education also emerged as a si
gnificant predictor of insecure attachment and social efficacy. In add
ition, endorsement of secure and insecure attachment prototypes were s
ignificant predictors of social efficacy and perceptions of control. R
esults are discussed within the framework of contextual models of deve
lopment.
