Abstract
We present an efficient method for analyzing the statistical propertie s of weighted median filters. It is based on a fast algorithm for comp uting the Hamming distribution of the zero-set of the defining positiv e Boolean function. We also show that the standard median filter is in a statistical sense optimal among the stack filters defined by self d ual positive Boolean functions.
