On. Kukushkin et al., A MODEL FOR THE DEFORMATION FOCUS IN A ROLLER-TYPE BRIQUETTING PRESS, Powder metallurgy and metal ceramics, 32(8), 1993, pp. 675-679
The compaction zone is considered for rollers whose working surfaces f
orm a corrugated shape. An expression is derived for the time-variable
slope in the equations for the equilibrium conditions for the forces
and deformation focus, which is deflected towards the vertical axis be
cause of the roll asymmetry. Expressions are derived for the neutral a
ngles, which separate the compaction zone into lag and lead zones. An
equation is proposed for the horizontal projection of the total pressu
re of the material on the grooves in the cell, and also for the compac
tion pressure. Patterns are derived for the pressure on the various pa
rts of the compaction angle. The compaction forces are periodic when t
he material is treated in rolls having complicated geometry in the wor
king surfaces.
