Abstract
60 heads of surgical units of non-universitary hospitals in Switzerlan d were questioned about their opinion about their assistants. The ques tionnaire was divided into: general data about hospital size and numbe r of assitants, employment criteria, further education, operative acti vities and working hours of assistants. The answers are representative for the situation in non-universitary hospitals in Switzerland.
