Abstract
The reaction of [(mu-H)(2)Fe-3(mu(3)-Te)(CO)(9)] with [CpM(CO)(3)](2) (M = Mo, W; Cp = eta(5)-C5H5) complexes causes substitution of one and two HFe (CO)(3) groups with isolobal CpM (CO)(2) fragments. The first -stage substitution derivative [(mu-H)Fe2W(mu(3)-Te)(CO)(8)Cp] reacts with [CpMo(CO)(3)](2) resulting in the heterotrimetal [FeMoW(mu(3)-Te) (CO)(7)Cp(2)] cluster. The structure of [FeMo2(mu(3)-Te)(CO)(7)Cp(2)] has been determined by X-ray analysis. The structures of the other pro ducts have been suggested based on H-1, Se-77 and Te-125 NMR and IR sp ectroscopy. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
