Abstract
Within the 30 km exclusion zone around the Chernobyl' nuclear power pl ant, soil composition, the distribution of activity in different soil fractions and resuspended dust particles resulting from technogenic (i .e. mechanical) activity have been investigated. In addition, experime nts have been carried out on the size distribution of fuel particles w ithin soils. Some work was also undertaken to enable the estimation of resuspension factors and deposition velocities of particulate materia ls in this area.
