Abstract
ORB (Object Request Broker) is a communication mechanism between distr ibuted objects supported by multiple vendors. This paper describes NEC 's distributed object framework and ORB. Fast object invocation is ach ieved by reducing the number of relevant processes. The paper shows th at the performance of the ORB is roughly equal to that of an RPC (Remo te Procedure Call).
