Abstract
High-resolution electrophotographic printers need toner with small par ticles. This paper describes producing a polymerized toner with small particles directly by emulsion polymerization, and applying the toner to a nonmagnetic monocomponent development process. The emulsion polym erized toner is produced by putting together fine-grain emulsion parti cles and heat-welding them on contact. Toner particle shape, binder po lymer composition, and molecular weight were all optimized for nonmagn etic monocomponent development.
