A new method for oscillopolarographic determination of arsenic in allo
ys of nonferrous metals, characterized by high speed and sensitivity,
is based on reduction of As (V) to As (III) at room temperature by mea
ns of CuBr in an aqueous solution containing hydrochloric, sulfuric, a
nd hydrobromic acids. At the same time, AsBr3 is extracted with benzen
e. Oscillopolarograms of the extract are recorded on a background of 0
.75 M LiClO4 in acetone containing 0.23 M HCI and 8 vol.% H2O. No othe
r element of the alloy is extracted under these conditions.
