Abstract
Escherichia coli strains ECOR2, ECOR3 and K-12 are very closely relate d in genotype as indicated by multilocus enzyme electrophoresis. We sh ow that they have very different rfb regions indicating that recombina tion has occurred in this region, and we suggest that it may be associ ated with niche adaptation.
