Abstract
The rate of the reaction of o-carboxybenzaldehyde with a crowned thiaz olium ion was found to be remarkably accelerated by addition of Na+ (1 80-fold) in chloroform-acetonitrile (9 : 1 v/v) containing a base, whe reas no rate-acceleration was observed for m- and p-carboxybenzaldehyd es under the same conditions.
