INVESTIGATION OF ADSORPTION AND DETERMINATION OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ADSORBED LAYER IN FILLED POLYMER-SOLUTIONS

As a result of the investigation of disperse iron gamma-oxide suspensi ons in solutions of partly saponified vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate cop olymer in ethyl acetate of different concentration, it was established that the values of Gibbs adsorption of the copolymer fail to give eno ugh information concerning the parameters of the adsorption-solvation layer which is formed on the surface of the oxide particles. A possibl e method for obtaining the information concerning the phase interactio ns occurring in similar systems is demonstrated. The method involves j oint analysis of the adsorption data, the data of the quantitative eva luation of the adsorbate which is irreversibly bound with the adsorben t surface, and the data of rheological investigations of the suspensio ns.
