The relative viscosity eta(rel) of aqueous gelatin solutions has been
studied as a function of temperature, concentration, and gradient of t
he flow rate. The samples studied contained macromolecules forming hel
ices on the level of the whole macromolecular chains or some sections
of the latter. Quantitative relations between the effective hydrodynam
ic volume of the clusters formed by the gelatin macromolecules, the di
mensions of the aggregates, and their concentration in solution have b
een proposed.
