Abstract
Ignition in an electromagnetic field has been examined from theory and by experiment for a highly exothermic mixture on a steel substrate. V arious initiation states can occur in accordance with the electromagne tic power. Numerical and approximate analyses are compared with experi ment. The proposed mechanism fits within the theory of thermal ignitio n and enables one to optimize self-propagating synthesis coating.
