The thin film electrochemistry and electrogenerated chemiluminescence
(ECL) of the title compound were obtained on Pt electrodes (CH3CN/0.1
M tetrabutylammonium fluoroborate). Orange luminescence (lambda(max) =
622 nm) was obtained by pulsing the potentials between +0.40 and -2.3
5 V versus Fc/Fc+ as well as by oxidizing the system in the presence o
f TPAH (TPAH=tri-n-propylamine), which generates the strongly reducing
intermediate TPA., and by reducing the system in the presence of S2O8
2-, which produces the strongly oxidizing intermediate SO4-..
