Abstract
The vibrational and rotational status of X 2SIGMA(g)+ N2+ fragments fr om the 355 nm photolysis of N4+ has been assessed using two complement ary experimental techniques. Evidence from both methods suggests that the N2+ photofragments are predominately in the v = 0 vibrational leve l of the electronic ground state and can possess considerable rotation al energy (up to 3000 cm-1).
