Abstract
Since he role of free radicals in skin photocarcinogenesis is now susp ected, we undertook the present work in order to verify the action of PUVA on lipid peroxidation and on the systems repairing oxidizing stre ss in vivo. Plasma vitamins (tocopherol and retinol), plasma trace ele ments (Cu, Zn, Se), metalloenzymes (selenium dependent GPX, SeGPX) and lipid peroxidation markers (malondialdehyde (MDA), and organic hydrop eroxide) were measured before (DO) and during PUVA treatment (Day 15 a nd Day 45). A significant increase of MDA and decrease of Se GPX was o bserved during PUVA but no significant change for other parameters. Th e significance of these modifications is discussed.
