We discuss a novel technique for phase matching parametric gain in non
linear waveguides. We show that the gain may be extended to regions of
normal or large anomalous dispersion for arbitrary detuning through t
he introduction of a passive linear waveguide that is weakly coupled a
nd nearly phase matched to the Evolution equations are solved exactly
in the perturbation limit, and maps of the gain region as well as plot
s of the evolution of the various modes are presented for a variety of
parameter sets.
