E. Fiordilino et al., PERIODIC-STRUCTURE EFFECTS ON MULTIPHOTON ELECTRON EJECTION FROM A METAL-SURFACE, Journal of the Optical Society of America. B, Optical physics, 11(8), 1994, pp. 1462-1467
The multiphoton photoelectric effect on a metal surface is studied wit
h the Kronig-Penney model used to account for effects that are due to
the band structure of the conduction electrons and for the possibility
of photon absorption during laser penetration of the metal bulk. The
numerical results show that the ionization process depends only weakly
on the laser penetration length considered. The energy distribution o
f the ejected electrons is found not to be a fast-decreasing function
of the energy and in this sense is akin to the observed distribution.
