Abstract
We report properties of lithium-intercalated MoO3 crystalline and thin -film which are potential cathode materials for high energy density ba tteries. Discharge and charge reactions of MoO3 electrodes in a non-aq ueous Li+-electrolyte have been studied. The kinetically accessible di scharge range amounts to 0 less-than-or-equal-to x less-than-or-equal- to 1.5 for Li insertion in LixMoO3. Transport parameters such as the L i+ chemical diffusion coefficient, thermodynamic factor and ionic cond uctivity are investigated during the Li+ insertion process and discuss ed with respect to the crystallinity of the cathode material.
