Hs. Liszt et R. Lucas, 3 MILLIMETER J = 1-0 HCO-OPHIUCHI( EMISSION FROM THE DIFFUSE CLOUD TOWARD ZETA), The Astrophysical journal, 431(2), 1994, pp. 120000131-120000134
In diffuse clouds, HCO+ is the immediate chemical antecedent of CO: we
have detected 89 GHz emission from the J = 1-0 line of HCO+ toward ze
ta Oph and at the CO peak 30' to the south. The column densities requi
red to reproduce these weak lines (0.02 and 0.1 K) are very sensitive
to the assumed number density and carbon depletion, providing a sensit
ive test of chemical models.
