Abstract
It is shown that ganglioside GM1 in picomolar concentrations stimulate s the phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate (PMA)-induced generation of acti ve forms of oxygen by neutrophils and peritoneal macrophages. GM1 (10( -11) M) is found to enhance the luminol-dependent chemiluminescence in duced by 10(-8) M PMA in mouse macrophages in comparison with the effe ct of PMA alone.
