Provided here is a brief description of an ecobehavioral model for del
ivering services to families with serious disorders such as child abus
e and neglect and families who have children with developmental disabi
lities who are at high risk for abuse and neglect. It is noted that in
addition to the empirical data that are gathered from research and se
rvice from this model, many practical considerations arise that deserv
e professional attention. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to enumer
ate some of the practical problems such as counselor stress, parental
noncompliance, and interagency coordination, and to offer a few soluti
ons to these challenges.
