The rotationally resolved excitation spectrum of the 0(0)0 band of the
S1<--S0 transition in 2H-benzotriazole, at 286.4 nm, is obtained by u
sing laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy in a molecular beam. From
this pure b-type spectrum, the rotational constants in the ground sta
te and the electronically excited state are determined. The rotational
lines are strongly broadened due to the short lifetime which is deter
mined to be around 1.1 ns.
