Abstract
A low-frequency active anti-noise headset has been made, and tested on human ears with regard to hearing in noise. Psychoacoustic methods ar e used in order to quantify the improvement in audibility and intellig ibility. Under low-frequency noise, a spectacular effect of anti-noise is observed, while headset wearing brings just a very little global i mprovement because of negative passive effect. Besides optimization of passive acoustic attenuation, evaluation of such an apparatus is face d with interindividual hearing in noise variability.
