Abstract
The magnetoplasma amplification theory in an ionic semiconductor cryst
al is further expanded. A new type of a magnetoplasma amplification ut
ilizes the phonon as an oscillator. The Lorentz force in the Voigt con
figuration causes the interaction between the electrons' space-charge
wave, the optical phonon, and the electromagnetic wave. In the Reststr
ahlen frequency range, the induced dielectric constant dispersion prov
ides a slow-wave structure and causes a phase shift in the waves, whic
h are combined in drifting synchronization. It results in a traveling
wave instability. The new amplifications appear very near the transver
se phonon frequency and the longitudinal phonon frequency, respectivel
y, corresponding to the forward-wave coupling and backward-wave coupli
ng.
