A new method for calculating the synthetic spectral line profiles and
radial velocity curves of close binary systems is developed. The metho
d uses Kurucz's data on stellar absorption line profiles. The tidal an
d rotational distortion of the star shape (i.e., an effect of elliptic
ity), mutual heating by radiation (i.e., a reflection effect), and a s
tellar wind from the star surface are taken into account. The cores of
absorption lines are assumed to form at the bottom of the wind. The m
ethod is developed for both classical close binary systems and X-ray b
inaries. Application of the method to the analysis of the radial veloc
ity curve of the optical component in HZ Her provides satisfactory res
ults.
