Abstract
Condensation of ketone derived nitrones with N-methylcarboximidoyl chl oride affords after hydrolytic workup alpha-amidoketones. The results are interpreted in terms of the formation of an intermediate capable o f undergoing a facile [3,3] sigmatropic rearrangement. Aldehyde derive d nitrones form imides via a [3+2] cycloaddition reaction.
