Disseminated intravascular coagulopathy (DIC) was diagnosed during hae
matological investigation of a patient with a persistent bleeding toot
h socket. On further clinical examination an abdominal aortic aneurysm
was found. No other cause for the DIC was detected. The DIC was treat
ed and the socket healed. The patient refused to have definitive surge
ry for the aneurysm.
