S. Ghaemmaghami et M. Deriche, ADAPTIVE-WIDTH APPROXIMATION OF EVENTS IN TEMPORAL DECOMPOSITION BASED SPEECH CODING, Electronics Letters, 32(24), 1996, pp. 2189-2191
Temporal decomposition (TD) is used to compress speech spectral inform
ation in very low-rate coding. The authors have shown earlier that fur
ther compression of such information is achieved by approximation of s
peech 'events' using fixed-width simple functions. A new technique is
introduced to improve event approximation performance using 'variable-
width' composite functions.
