The V-50(n(th), p)Ti-50 reaction has been studied at a very clean ther
mal neutron beam of the ILL's high flux reactor. An accurate cross sec
tion value of (0.71 +/- 0.04) mb has been determined, as well as a val
ue of (0.002 364 +/- 0.000 008) u for the V-50-Ti-50 mass difference.
Possible applications in nuclear astrophysics and in reactor technolog
y are pointed out.
