The authors summarise some experimental data on the propagation consta
nt of a square ridge waveguide using a single pair of dielectric loade
d ridges. The work is based on a cavity technique in the 8-16GHz frequ
ency range. This is done for both a fully filled and a partially fille
d arrangement. The structure under consideration is of interest in the
design of ridge impedance transformers and other components. It may s
eparately be used to validate numerical calculations on this type of w
aveguide.
