T. Stroff et al., NITRIC-OXIDE AS MEDIATOR OF THE GASTROPROTECTION BY CHOLECYSTOKININ-8AND PENTAGASTRIN, European journal of pharmacology, 260(1), 1994, pp. 180000001-180000002
Cholecystokinin-8 and pentagastrin protect against ethanol-induced gas
tric mucosal lesions in rats. The protective effect is antagonized by
the nitric oxide (NO) synthase inhibitor, N-G-nitro-L-arginine, The in
hibitory action of N-G-nitro-L-arginine is reversed by L-arginine, but
not D-arginine. The findings suggest that NO is involved in the gastr
oprotection induced by both peptides.
