K. Vogt et al., ANTIBACTERIAL EFFICACY OF CIPROFLOXACIN IN A CASE OF ENDOCARDITIS DUETO CARDIOBACTERIUM-HOMINIS, Zentralblatt fur Bakteriologie, 281(1), 1994, pp. 80-84
Endocarditis due to Cardiobacterium hominis is rare and may be treated
with a variety of antibiotics. We isolated the bacteria from blood cu
ltures of a patient with Cardiobacterium hominis endocarditis who coul
d be successfully treated with ciprofloxacin. The bacterial features o
f Cardiobacterium hominis are presented, and susceptibility to ciprofl
oxacin is documented with bacterial killing curves employing peak and
trough specimens of patient's serum.
