Polyacrylic acid-IgG polymer (PAA-IgG) activates the classical and alt
ernative pathway of complement as shown by specific C1q-(IgG-PAA) inte
raction and the generation of C4d, Bb, C3b, C3a and C5a. This water so
luble and stable PAA-IgG polymer represents a model substance for the
study of humoral and cellular inflammatory mechanisms, mediated by the
complement system.
